The International Photography Contest “Europe and Asia - Dialog of Cultures” is organized by The Photography Development Fund (Russia, Yekaterinburg) in collaboration with The Museum of Photography Metenkov House (Russia, Yekaterinburg) within the International Photography Festival “From the Great China Wall to the Ural Mountains”. The contest and the festival are timed to the Meeting of the Council of Heads of The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states in June 2009.

About 400 photographers from Europe, Asia, USA and Canada took part in the contest (more than 3000 photos were provided). The best 160 works of 43 authors were represented on the exhibition of finalists in The Museum of Photography Metenkov House in May - June 2009.

The winner and the owner of the Grand Prix of 3000$ became Khaled Hasan (Bangladesh), who presented the series “Living Stone: A Community Losing Its Life”. The Honorable Diplomas are awarded to Aleksandr Gronskiy (Russia), Anastasia Taylor-Lind (United Kingdom), Ahlmann Olesen (Denmark), The Honorable Mentions are awarded to  Anahit Hayrapetyan (Armenia), Anne Kathrin Greiner (Germany), Brenda van der Haak (Netherlands), Markel Redondo (Spain), Saiful Huq Omi (Bangladesh), Konstantin Salomatin (Russia). Il'dar Ziganshin (Russia, Yekaterinburg) is given the special prize “The Best Photographer of Sverdlovsk Oblast”. (read more ...)
